Films Against the Skilled Labor Shortage: Between Information and Image Building
The skilled labor shortage is a dominant issue in employment policy. Fueled by demographic developments, certain sectors and fields of work are particularly affected, such as healthcare and social services. In addition, there is a constant need to adapt skills in a rapidly changing world of work, where technological developments and environmental challenges add to the complexity. Beyond attracting young people to high-demand professions, addressing adults who wish to continue their education, retrain, or upskill is also central. Films serve as a medium for outreach, ranging from factual informational formats to highly emotional image films. How effective are these films in combating the skilled labor shortage? Or is image-building the primary focus? What does the creative work behind such productions look like?
In the “Films and Discussion” section, we present some of the newest and best domestic productions on this topic, including industry and company recruitment as well as employer branding films. Companies, production companies, filmmakers, and experts in employment policy will comment on and discuss the films in a panel discussion. The audience is also invited to participate in the conversation.
