In this comedy set in a fictional jobcentre, a group of long-term unemployed people, led by Marie Wotruba (Margarethe Tiese), band together to fight against the systems that prevent them from living the lives they want. To do so, they need solidarity, ingenuity and allies within the system. 

Marie Wotruba (Margarethe Tiesel) bekommt mit ihren 58 Jahren in der modernen Arbeitswelt keinen Job mehr, Mahdiya Sayegh (Mariam Hage) will als Frau mit Migrationshintergrund Polizistin werden – und das kann sich die AMS-Beraterin Kathi Kratochvil (Marie-Luise Stockinger) schlicht nicht vorstellen. Gemeinsam mit anderen Betroffenen nehmen Marie und Mahdiya ihr Schicksal selbst in die Hand und finden im Callcenter-Mitarbeiter Markus Berger (Lukas Watzl) einen Mitstreiter. Während im AMS ein internes Match um eine Beförderung läuft, organisieren sich die Arbeitslosen – beides nicht immer mit lauteren Mitteln.  

Was wie ein klassisches Sozialdrama beginnt, entwickelt sich überraschend schnell zu einer schwungvollen Komödie: Mit viel Humor und musikalischem Elan erzählt der Film von Selbstermächtigung, Zusammenhalt und dem Mut, füreinander einzustehen.
