On Labour Day, we’re offering a sneak preview of the 2nd Vienna Labour Film Festival. Ahead of its official cinema release this autumn, we’ll be screening Sebastian Brauneis’s latest film as part of a special screening „AMS – Arbeit muss sein“ at the im Gartenbaukino.
In this comedy set in a fictional jobcentre, a group of long-term unemployed people, led by Marie Wotruba (Margarethe Tiese), band together to fight against the systems that prevent them from living the lives they want. To do so, they need solidarity, ingenuity and allies within the system.
„Instead of a dreary social drama, a lively offbeat musical.“ (Lukas Foerster)
„All in all, Sebastian Brauneis has created a wonderful socially critical comedy that in no way antagonises the AMS as an institution, but above all calls for humanity and solidarity…“ (UNCUT)
The director and members of the cast will be in attendance. Following the film, there will be a Film discussion with director Sebastian Brauneis and the Chairman of the AMS Board Johannes Kopf .
