Learning a profession means more than acquiring skills – it is about participating, belonging, and becoming who we are. Ten Years follows four young adults and shows how their profession gives structure to their lives. Well-trained yet complete beginners, they set out on a journey, with the challenges they will face as a baker, a primary school teacher, a doctor, and a conductor still unknown. Learning from experience can be overwhelming, enables growth, and forces decisions. Successes and failures – what they contribute to learning – only become clear over time. And no one walks the path alone: colleagues, customers, patients, schoolchildren, orchestra musicians, parents, great loves, and their own children appear along the way. Scenes from their work alternate with interviews, telling ten years as if in a flash: leaving a deep sympathy for the protagonists and a new perspective on what it means to take up a profession and let it shape you.
