Der Film begleitet \u00fcber drei Tage den streng ritualisierten Alltag einer verwitweten Frau in Br\u00fcssel, die mit ihrem Sohn lebt: Sie macht die Betten, putzt, kocht, sch\u00e4lt Kartoffeln, erledigt Besorgungen und empf\u00e4ngt nachmittags jeweils einen Mann gegen Bezahlung. In langen, statischen Einstellungen verzichtet Akerman bewusst auf klassische Dramaturgie und macht durch die Wiederholung h\u00e4uslicher und reproduktiver Arbeit sichtbar, was gesellschaftlich meist unsichtbar bleibt. Jeanne Dielman tut scheinbar immer dasselbe, doch gerade aus den kleinsten Abweichungen entsteht enorme Spannung: Am zweiten Tag ger\u00e4t die Ordnung ins Wanken, am dritten eskaliert sie. Jeanne schweigt fast den ganzen Film hindurch; umso beredter wirken ihre pr\u00e4zisen, zugleich starren und fragilen Bewegungen. Die Wohnung wirkt wie Fabrik, B\u00fchne und Gef\u00e4ngnis zugleich.
